04/03: It's a requirement of a DE course to take a proctored exam during week 12. You should make an appointment for the exam during week 11. If there're extenuating circumstances, e.g. TAD/TDY, emergency leave etc., that will prevent you from taking the exam during the exam week, you should check out the directions at

and make arrangements early. I'll be glad to help as much as I can.

03/31: Welcome back to class. I hope you feel refreshed after the short break and feel energized to continue another 8 weeks of study.

Here is what I did during the break:

• I opened a conference titled "Assignments". This conference is for me to post assignments, post commentaries on assignments, and for us to communicate about assignments. You can find my comments on assignment #2 there, together with sample programs from several students.
  
  
• I archived the class announcements from week 1 to week 7 and put the document under Course Content.

You can find this week's material and exercises in conference titled Week 8. At the end of this week, you should be able to

• Evaluate a logical expression with relational operators.
• Use relational operators to express conditions.
• Write the 3 forms of if statements correctly (putting semi-colon and brackets correctly).
• Be aware of the run-time errors caused by using = for equal-to operator, or by putting extra semi-colon, or by missing proper brackets.
• Apply the 3 forms to solve given problems.

The activities for this week are:

• Read lecture notes and assigned readings in the Dale textbook.
• Complete the assigned conference exercises. (The group assignments have been changed starting this week. Make sure you do the right exercise.)
